Pre-Anne Geddes

And on the topic of 'pots'--Trevor is now doing his business on the potty! No daipers since Thursday morning. It wasn't at all as traumatic as I thought it would be and after a rough first twenty four hours (mostly rough for me and my worries about the carpet) he seemed to really catch on to the whole operation. He hasn't had any accidents for the last 24 hours, so we're a pretty excited little household.

Easter

I am continuing to enjoy the new ways Trevor 'gets it' with holidays and events and all. He's more interested in and excited about decorations, activities, and anticipating things. So here's some pictures...

Dying eggs (in his 'hawaii man' shirt)

We went to the Easter egg hunt at the park--his sitting with the bunny is a big improvement from last year when he wouldn't go near the thing. This year he seemed to just want to avoid having a picture taken. He even hugged the bunny before he left and talked about how the bunny doesn't talk for the rest of the day (this was a big deal to him because when Trev said 'hi' and the bunny just waved)

This is what Ryan did during the egg hunt activities...

Dying eggs

Ready...

Set GO!

Trevor quickly caught on to the candy being inside the eggs. He ate the gummy thing in the first one, then started sifting through to find some chocolate. I'm pretty sure he gets that from me.

Ryan has been working very hard at turning over. He managed to do it once, but he was unclothed at the time. So I guess turning while having clothes on is tricky. On easter egg hunt day I tried to dress the boys in their most easter egg like shirts. Ryan almost blends in with the quilt in the background...

I made bunny cake for Trevor and John to decorate(coconut restricted to the ears). It turned out beautifully and since it was cake the two year old was pretty sure we had to sing happy birthday... Trevor first thought it should be happy birthday bunny, but then decided that it was better to sing happy birthday Trevor. Any time there's a birthday now or reference to a birthday he insists that it's his birthday first. So he'll be happy next month when it is indeed his day.

(The big smile of a boy who knows he's going to get to eat cake!)

Big baby, bugs and giants

Ryan had his four month appointment last week and it is confirmed that he is indeed a big boy.

Head Circumference: 17.5inches (95th percentile)
Weight: 16.5pounds (just 75th percentile)
Length: 27.25inces (97th percentile)

We have to take Ryan back in four weeks so they can measure his head again. His graph for head circumference is more of a straight line than a curve... so he wants to make sure it levels off a bit more. The doctor said it's nothing to worry about, he just has a big head. Then he looked at me and said "you have a big head too". I looked at Trevor's old measurements and his head size was a bit similar at the time. So there you go.

Here's a picture of Ryan next to his friend who will be one in May... he's not too far behind in size...

It continues to be nice here, so more time outside. Trevor found a bug the other day and managed to carry it around for quite a while without it coming to a devastating end. It was one of those pill bugs that roll up when they're threatened. So when he first picked the bug up it rolled in to a little ball. John explained that if he was nice to the bug it would unroll and it did--so then he declared it his best friend.

And today we were out playing with his new jump rope. He was requesting one and trying to use belts at home so we figured that maybe he picked that up somewhere... he doesn't quite have the coordination to get it to work quite right. So instead he decided it was good for whacking stuff and to use like a little lasso to drag things behind him. I think the label might have been right--jump ropes are for ages 5 and up.

Trevor and Ryan have been figuring out ways to play together. Trev has come up with a game where he drapes blankets over Ryan's play mat and they pretend it's a tent or a castle or a cave or whatever suits them. Today they were giants and in a cave...
